img_brazilfest1Brazilian music gets the royal treatment this summer as HSBC presents Festival Brazil in London.

The event is a star-studded affair and begins June 19 and runs through Sept. 5. All concerts will be held at Southbank Centre and the center’s official website notes this about the festivities and some of the performers lined up:

“Festival Brazil features UK performances at Royal Festival Hall by cultural icon Maria Bethânia, superstar singer song-writer Gilberto Gil, the legendary psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes and tropicália star Tom Zé. From the favelas of Salvador, the world masters of capoeira leap, flip, kick and spin at breathtaking speed in Brazil! Brazil! a new show for all ages.”

The event will be a major showcase of Brazilian art, literature, culture, and family-friendly events according to HSBC. Southbank Centre is the UK’s largest arts centre, encompassing 21 acres of concert and other arts venues.

Sounds like a great event. What do you think?
